They come in many different styles, so it&#8217;s fun to walk around and see all the varieties (check out some of the photos below too!). Along the main street in downtown Matsumoto, the Christmas lights have been replaced with special New Year made of pine branches and bundles of rice attached to each of the light posts.<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17777\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17777\" style=\"width: 533px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/visitmatsumoto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/DSCF4930-533x800.jpg?resize=533%2C800&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Decorations along the main street\" width=\"533\" height=\"800\" class=\"size-large wp-image-17777\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17777\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Decorations along the main street<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re in decorating your own house Japanese style this New Year&#8217;s, go check out the New Year&#8217;s decoration market going on now until December 30 on Nawate Street right in front of Yohashira Shrine (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.co.jp\/maps\/place\/Yohashira+Shrine\/@36.2337612,137.9747349,16z\/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x601d0e8e3c092a65:0x2f476c2563083ce8!8m2!3d36.2349827!4d137.9704311?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">Google map<\/a>)!
