If you&rsquo;ve seen taiko live during in your time in Japan and wanted to do more than just watch, this is the perfect opportunity to try it for yourself! No experience is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted at Agetsuchi Theater, the workshop began with an impressive display by members of Hibikiza.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 1280px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-91151-1\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/visitmatsumoto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/20180203_140723.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/visitmatsumoto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/20180203_140723.mp4\">https:\/\/visitmatsumoto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/20180203_140723.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>The piece they performed is meant to invoke an image of the silhouette of Matsumoto Castle at night and was truly exhilarating.<\/p>\n<p>After their demonstration, we jumped right into learning the techniques.<\/p>\n<p>From proper stance&#8230;<\/p>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-18146\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/visitmatsumoto.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/taikoHibikiza5-590x408.jpg?resize=590%2C408&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA\" width=\"590\" height=\"408\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>\n<p>&#8230;to the way you hold the drumsticks. Drumsticks were provided for the lesson.<\/p>\n<p>After some warm up, we began to learn basic rhythms. Our enthusiastic instructor and another member, who was assisting in English, gave step by step instructions as they led us through patterns that gradually increased in difficulty.
